Heading down the north fork the canyon narrows up.  Slot canyons will often have drop-offs that are too high to get down without ropes.  Since we are a long way down the north fork it would be long hike if we had to go back out the way we came.
The sand in the bottom of the canyon means that it has been a while since the last hard rain.
There is one waterfall we need to go around.  Art is trying to talk Kim out of trying to slide down facing out. He thinks it is a better idea to face the rock and climb down

We need to be careful since it would take at least 8 hours to get medical assistance; we know that this would be a bad place to get injured

A couple of smaller drop-offs and we are at the bottom of the narrow part of the north fork.
It's mid-afternoon and we are on the way back to the trailhead.  It is still a couple of hours hike before we are done.
